Employment Services

Clients interested in employment participate in career exploration. They may receive some or all of the following services to obtain or maintain a job:

·        Soft Skills Development – Information on appropriate behavior, language, and dress, as well as problem-solving and time-management training.

·        Job Development/Placement – Assistance in finding a job, including help with identifying leads, filling out applications, developing interviewing skills, and learning about reasonable accommodations.

·        Job Coaching – On-the-job training and problem resolution.

·        Follow-up –Periodic checks on performance and assistance if new skills are needed.

Note:
Communication Facilitation is imperative for job retention for the deaf-blind population.  The Center offers employer training, demonstrates the best method of communication to be used between the client and co-workers, and shows the employer how to locate outside resources if needed.
