Older Adult Series

The Older Adult Series is a four-week informational program directed toward senior citizens.  The Center’s experts bring the program to independent living retirement communities, senior citizens’ groups, or churches. These interactive presentations cover:

·        Hearing Loss – Facts and myths on hearing loss, hearing aids, assistive listening devices, medical care, and Wisconsin’s free telephone equipment program

·        Vision Loss – Information on eye diseases and treatment, adaptive aids, and safe travel skills

·        Coping Strategies – Strategies for living with vision and hearing loss, planning for the future, and finding the support and resources to meet physical and emotional needs

·        Adaptations for Independent Living/Alternative Communication – Information and hands-on demonstrations of adaptive devices/technology and specialized procedures for effective communication, safe mobility, and day-to-day management of person and home

(Topic areas are not presented in a specific order to facilitate scheduling of staff and special presenters).

If you would like more information on the Older Adult Series, please e-mail
Paulette Bartelt or call 414-481-7477.
